Tuxedo Rental FAQ
This is a subtitle for your new post
We believe the best experience starts with knowing exactly what to expect! Tuxedo and suit rentals work a little differently than purchasing a made-to-order garment, so we want to be transparent about how the process works from measurements to final pickup.
Are rental tuxedos made specifically for me?
No. Unlike many of our bridal gowns that are special ordered in a specific size and made after the order is placed, rental tuxedos and suits come from an existing inventory of garments.
We take your measurements and use those measurements, along with the rental company’s sizing guidelines, to order the pieces expected to provide your best fit.
If you take my measurements, why might something need to be adjusted?
Measurements give us the best starting point, but measurements and fit are not the same thing.
Two people with identical measurements can prefer or require a completely different fit based on body proportions, shoulder shape, leg length, posture, personal preference, and even the cut of the particular suit or tuxedo.
Because rental garments are not made specifically for your body, occasionally a different size or adjustment is necessary once we see the garment on you.
Does needing a different size mean my measurements were taken incorrectly?
Not necessarily! This is one of the biggest misconceptions about rental formalwear.
If we decide at your final fitting that a different coat, pant, shirt, or other piece will give you a better fit, that does not automatically mean your original order was incorrect. It simply means we now have the advantage of seeing the actual garment on your body and can fine-tune the fit.
Think of the original measurements as getting us as close as possible, and the final try-on as the opportunity to perfect it.
What happens if something doesn’t fit correctly when my rental arrives?
That is exactly why we have you try everything on before leaving the store!
We’ll check the overall fit and make sure you feel comfortable. If something needs to change, we can determine the best solution. Depending on the garment and timing, this may include exchanging a piece for another size or making an available adjustment in store.
Rental companies plan for situations like this, and exchanging a piece is a normal part of the rental process.
Why do rentals arrive so close to the wedding?
Rental inventory is used for multiple events throughout the year, so garments typically arrive during the week of your event rather than months in advance like a purchased suit or special-order gown.
This is why your final try-on and timely pickup are so important. It gives us the opportunity to check everything while there is still time to address anything that needs attention.
Should I expect my rental to fit like a custom suit?
A rental should look polished, fit comfortably, and photograph beautifully—but it is important to remember that a rental is not a custom or made-to-measure garment.
There may be small differences in fit compared with a suit that has been purchased and professionally tailored specifically to your body.
What if I’m particular about how my suit fits?
Tell us! We would much rather know your preferences.
If you like your pants especially slim, prefer more room through your shoulders, want a certain break at your shoe, or have another fit preference, let us know during your appointment and again at your final try-on.
For someone wanting an extremely precise or highly tailored fit, purchasing a suit and having it professionally altered may be a better option than renting.
Why is the final try-on so important?
Because we don’t consider the process finished just because the garments arrived.
The try-on allows us to see how everything fits together, identify anything that needs to be adjusted or exchanged, and make sure you leave feeling confident for your event.
Our goal isn’t simply to order your rental—it’s to help make sure you look and feel your best when it matters.
The biggest thing we want you to know:
An adjustment or replacement piece does not mean something went wrong. It is a normal and expected part of working with rental formalwear.
We take careful measurements and order according to professional sizing guidelines, but the true fit can only be determined once the actual garments are on your body. That final fitting is built into the process for exactly that reason—and our team is here to take care of you every step of the way.
